This one is hot off the presses! How cute is she? We love a female barbarian around here, and Torben, of the Path of the Totem Warrior (Bear, of course) is a fine specimen indeed.

I really liked getting the chance to try a slightly new technique for approaching skin and hair here with a non-human skin color. I think it was successful, non? It’s an interesting challenge, depicting red blood beneath green skin.

Finding the right body references was a deep dive. Torben’s player describes her as 6’5” and enormously brawny. I looked at bodybuilders, but most female competitors have whittled their waists down in a way I wasn’t looking for. The men weren’t what I needed, either. I know she’s mostly covered by her bearskin cloak, but the forearms, neck area and hands needed to be just right.

Eventually, I found a fabulous reference in powerlifter Janae Marie Kroc, who has exactly the right combination of brawn, muscle definition, and curves I was seeking. I’m putting her all over my Pinterest board for future fantasy strongwomen.

Fun, compassionate and gregarious, Torben loves good food, good booze, and good company. She also enjoys a good brawl, but it's usually never with malice on her part. She just thrives on punching things, which is why the life of an adventurer is so appealing to her. She also isn’t someone who’s concerned with academics, finding even the act of reading to be creepy because, in her words, “You stare at pieces of dead wood and hallucinate for hours.” 

Torben is quite flirty, and not picky about who she sleeps with. For now, she isn’t interested in commitment and treats it more like a “Let’s have a good time and if you want we can hook up again when I blow back through town.” situation. […] she is very respectful of the people she beds and always wants them to enjoy their time too, even if she hired them.
