EACH PIECE FROM THE ILLUSTRATED SPELLBOOK BEGINS WITH THE CLIENT.

Whether you have envisioned every detail or are looking for a more collaborative design experience, I work closely with you via email to create your piece.

As a professional illustrator, I exercise artistic license with each character’s design and the composition of the piece. My best work comes from close communication paired with artistic freedom. If you have a very clear or highly detailed design in mind, I encourage you to make a list of your top 5 details that absolutely must be included in your piece. I will be sure to incorporate these details, but will use your other descriptions as a jumping-off point to create the most dynamic character portrait possible.

Each piece is completed in the order the commission was received. To view the list and your current slot, please visit this link.

Half payment is due up front, and half when the piece is complete.  Once the first payment is received, you will be added to the commission list. All payments are final.

custom portraits

If the piece is a portrait, I will begin by providing you with a questionnaire to get a feel for your character. Once I have enough information to begin, I will create a preliminary sketch for approval, with up to three rounds of revision. Once the sketch is approved, I move on to the final painting, which is submitted to you for up to two rounds of revision.

other custom creations

If the piece is a completely custom work, contact me and we will discuss the parameters of the project. From there, I will be able to give you a price for your piece and I can begin sketching. You will be able to approve the preliminary sketch, with up to three rounds of revision. Once the sketch is approved, I move on to the final painting, which is submitted to you for up to two rounds of revision.

digital art & prints

If you have selected a digital painting, you will receive access to jpeg and pdf versions of your art. Additionally, if you have selected a print, the piece will be sent to a fine art printer and shipped to you once final approval has been given.

Pricing for prints is dependent on the size desired. We will establish the final size of the piece prior to the sketching phase.

sharing & use

My art may not be sold or exchanged in any form, physical or digital, under any circumstances without my express written permission and the payment of a fee (usually 50% of the cost of the artwork).

In addition, any art I create is my own. Unless exclusive rights are purchased, I retain all rights to use and monetize my art at my discretion, including the sale of prints, digital products, online marketing, published materials, or any other merchandise.
