First sketch

Merman … merMAN!

This one’s from a while back in 2021 and was fairly challenging. Firstly, there’s the color palette - tricky to make it look properly fearsome as opposed to silly. Blue skin/purple cloak/green shorts. I had found a pose to reference that was regal and showed off the body, but upon viewing the first sketch, the client requested something more dynamic. It turns out they were totally right - I’ve used this as a sample of my work all over the place.

Corus Overath is a storm sorcerer and hexblade warlock. Wealthy through his adventuring, he carries a powerful magical trident nearly a foot taller than himself called Stormbinder.
