Captain Kermet “Silvertongue” Bouchard Process
While each painting is different, I always begin by collecting reference and inspiration images, having my clients fill out a detailed character questionnaire, and sharing sketches and color roughs for review as the painting takes shape.

Clay Process
For this piece, the client described the character as “brutally ambitious, oddly suave, cunning to a fault […] intensely studious, observant, and intelligent […] she has minimal sympathy for other people's concerns.”
I chose to have Clay cooly observing the viewer from a shadowed place, with a harmonious color palette and emphasis on texture, with the figure’s hands and personal spellbook highlighted.
While the piece was initially created as a square canvas, I lengthened it for the final image.
