The Hodgepodge Heroes: Uthal

Hodgepodge Hero #2!

My first goliath, if I recall correctly. I am quite happy with his “prismatic javelin” and volcanic rock boots, but (as is so often the case) having stepped away and come back to it I think the maul could use another pass. It’s supposed to be glowing from within but I think could’ve used a bit more “glow”.

Still, a great exercise in getting an assembly line process going for a group portrait. All the sketches, then all the flat colors, then all the textures, etc., instead of approaching each individually. That way they all build up at once and you don’t veer off in some quirky direction with one or two.

Uthal "Helmsmasher" Jordisker is a friendly and contemplative goliath fighter. He hails from the tribes on Eiselcross, an set of islands in the far north of Wildemount. After signing up to be an expedition guide for Uthodurn's Academy of Research and Exploration, he became entangled in an expedition to Salsvault, an old Aeorian ruin. During this expedition he discovered he has a connection to an "echo", some semblance of a past life he lived, and he met the Hodgepodge Heroes. He adventures with the Hodgepodge Heroes, Uthodurn's Primary Expedition Team, to this day.
