A kenku named Clickbead

A not-too-infrequent experience for me, considering that I’m really fairly new to the world of D&D, is that I will get approached to create a piece for a character who belongs to a fantasy race I’ve never even heard of. Of course, if the client asks me, I’ll say, oh yes, I know what that is, so fun, can’t wait to start drawing while furiously Googling what the official material says as well as how other artists have interpreted these races.

Why am I mentioning this? No reason.

I had another pose envisioned for this piece and sketched it out. I’m pretty fond of the original sketch, but the client had a very clear vision for the piece and was very happy with the end result, so I’ll just save the first sketch for the archives. Who knows? Maybe it’ll have a new life. After all, great artists steal - even from themselves.

Clickbead is a samurai and grave cleric devoted to the Raven Queen. When drawn, his katana emanates a soft, light mist of shadow.
